With Atelier Monday I unite art and design, showcasing my paintings and specialising in concept design projects focused on research and people. I believe that quality research should be the start of every new product, service or campaign. Followed by finding a clean, simple solution through lots of sketching and testing and making sure that a proper dose of fun forms the heart of every step in the design process.

I am Tiara Spalburg, born on the 27th of January in Delft, The Netherlands and a visual artist and concept designer. I have been creating for as long as I can remember, however, art started playing a more prominent role in my life when I moved to Suriname at 11 years old. It became my way of adjusting and connecting to my new environment.
The need to expres myself through creativity in combination with my interest in people instilled by my multi-cultural background, made studying Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology the right choice for me. I have been using the technical skills and understanding of the design process in my art, while simultaneously letting my bold art style influence my design decisions.
Besides art and design, I love photography, martial arts -casually mentioning my black belt in Taekwondo here- and travelling, which led me to exciting adventures all over the world. From doing research with local communities in Kenya to an artist residency in Bali, I learned that you can connect with people anywhere through respect, authenticity and positivity.
I transformed my personal experiences and this rich perspective into the ability to build bridges. To me, building bridges means creating a common language two or more parties with different views. Through great communication skills in research and concept design, both verbal and visual, I strive to turn these bridges into landmarks.
